Dominican Republic native, Alicia Margarita Tejada, also called by her friends and family Alis Margot, is an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach in training, Yoga Teacher, and Sustainable Engineer residing in Miami, FL.
After graduating Magna Cum Laude from Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo, in the Dominican Republic, Alicia moved to Rochester, NY to pursue a Master of Science degree in Sustainable Engineering, at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
It was then when Alicia discovered Yoga, in her attempt to keep herself active, inspired and warm during the cold winters in upstate New York. Since then, Yoga has not only brought countless benefits for her body, mind and soul throughout the years, but immersing herself in the yoga community in Rochester, and now Miami, eased Alicia’s adaptation process in both cities.
Throughout her adult life, Alicia has been constantly exposed to new and different cultures. Her social group includes friends from different countries in Asia, North America, Latin America, Europe, and Africa. This exposure opened a new universe of cultural diversity for Alicia, allowing her to learn not only new and interesting points of view, but also new and exciting flavors, foods, languages, and traditions.
Alicia is a world adventurer and after traveling to many parts of the world, she has noticed a common denominator in people: an absence of guidance for both, proper nutrition and how to manage stress. In particular, Alicia believes that a deficit exists in knowledge regarding how to eat and, most importantly, how to find life-balance for what goes beyond the food plate: career, relationships, physical activity and spirituality.
Alicia truly believes that most diseases can be prevented through improving our healthy behaviors, which include not only conscious eating, but also deeply balancing and nurturing the aspects of our lives that bring us joy, purpose and meaning.
Alicia offers a fresh and worldly perspective on how to navigate with grace the challenges of being human. Through education and inspiration, Alicia believes that everyone holds the capacity to feel empowered to make the necessary shifts in their lives that will improve health outcomes and overall quality of life.
Alicia is also passionate about gender equality, environmental sustainability, cooking, health and nutrition, traveling, overcoming body image issues, and serving her purpose of inspiring, educating and empowering people, one person at a time.
